PINK SHAWLS GIVEN AWAY TO HONOR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS AND VICTIMS DURING DURING BLACK HILLS POWOW

Sioux Falls, SD: Knowing what the keys to funding are for various grant programs is never easy.  That is why the South Dakota Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is offering a grant writing workshop to give applicants the tips they need to create a successful grant application for the South Dakota Affiliate.  The workshop will be held Wednesday, August 19 from 1 to 5 pm at the Ramkota River Centre in Pierre, SD. Sioux Falls, SD: The South Dakota Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is currently offering grants up to $5,000 to support breast health education projects, conferences, and travel. A small grant can help organizations incorporate breast health into their activities, explore new ways of doing things, creatively serve community needs, or reach new communities. RURAL, UNDER-INSURED WOMEN, NATIVE AMERICANS AND BREAST CANCER PATIENTS BENEFIT FROM SOUTH DAKOTA AFFILIATE OF SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE GRANT PROGRAM®

March 10, 2009: Parker, SD – Native Americans, rural, under-insured women and men, and breast cancer patients in remote locations will benefit directly from this year’s South Dakota Affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure grant program. The South Dakota Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, one of more than 125 Affiliates nationwide dedicated to putting an end to breast cancer, recently provided community grants totaling $197,560 to support South Dakota area breast cancer screening and treatment programs. RUSH RAISES OVER $50,000 FOR BREAST CANCER TREATMENT AND RESEARCH

February 16, 2009: Rapid City, SD - On Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush hosted "Pink at the Rink Night" in which Rush players sported special pink jerseys, sponsored by Neugebauer's Fine Jewelry, that were auctioned off after the game. Coupled with the efforts of R.G. Flath and the rest of the players, the Rush are proud to announce that over $50,000 has been raised to help in the fight against breast cancer. POINSETT POUNDERS HOST SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER

February 2009: Badger, SD - Over 1200 people raised more than $31,000 at the Poinsett Pounders' Inaugural Ride for the Ribbon in Badger, SD. The event included more than 70 snowmobile riders who left Badger in three groups, rode around Lake Poinsett, Lake Albert, and through the snowmobile trails back to Badger. Vermillion to host state’s first Komen Race for the Cure

Dec. 19, 2007: The South Dakota Affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure has set Sunday, September 28 as the date for the inaugural Komen South Dakota Race for the Cure®. The 5K run/fitness walk will take participants through the streets of Vermillion before finishing inside the Univ. of South Dakota's Dakota Dome with an awards and tribute ceremony honoring Race winners and breast cancer survivors.
